Our History

Six decades in hazardous-zone engineering

Baliga began in 1960 manufacturing industrial and commercial luminaires in Chennai. In 1962, the company designed and pioneered India's first indigenous explosion-proof lighting equipment — starting a focus that has defined the business ever since.

Every enclosure Baliga builds follows the same defining principle: if an internal spark ignites gas trapped inside it, the flame must never escape to the surrounding atmosphere. That principle — flameproof, "Ex d" protection — now spans luminaires, junction boxes, control gear, switching equipment and cable accessories built for oil & gas, petrochemical and LPG installations.
